BEAR BASIN OUTFITTERS will assist you in applying for any species you wish to hunt by helping you complete the application process if you need help doing so.
A non-resident must apply for a hunting license in a drawing and be successful in that drawing before being eligible to hunt in Wyoming.
The exception to this is a black bear and mountain lion tag can be purchased over the counter at any retail outlet that sales Wyoming hunting licenses or from the WY G&F Department.
Applications to apply for any big game animal license can be obtained either from the WY G&F Department or the application can be printed out on the WY G&F Department’s website. I have added a link to that website on our site to help you locate the applications easier. However, the simplest process is to apply online at the Wyoming G&F website. It’s a quick and simple process that is easy to use.
Please note that each application deadline is date sensitive and you MUST apply before the deadline expires. However there often are “leftover” tags for some species after the initial drawing takes place and these tags become available in a second drawing with new deadline dates. These tags are typically cow elk or doe tags.
BEAR BASIN OUTFITTERS is permitted to operate in the following areas and you need to apply for your species within those areas before we can provide outfitting and guiding services to you:
ELK – “General” license for bulls
Cow ELK - Area 84 for limited quota cow elk license
Deer – Region H
Moose – Area 21, type 1 for bull
Cow Moose – Area 21 type 2 for cow
Sheep – Area 7 (any sheep)
Bear – Over the counter license (good for Areas 19 and 20)
Mountain Lion – Over the counter license (good for Grey’s River/Jackson)
Antelope – Areas 87, 88, 89, 90 and 91 type 1for limited quota buck license (type 2 for area 87 only is a late season buck tag, all others type 1 for bucks)
Buffalo – Area 1 (upon request)
There often are cow elk and doe antelope licenses available over the counter that are tags that remain after both the first and second drawing have taken place. These are easy tags to purchase if a hunter wants to add an additional species to hunt or if you just like to hunt to fill the freezer.
The following is an exert from the Wyoming G&F Department website that gives you some further direction for applying for big game animals in Wyoming. It also provides you with a chart with approximate dates for applying for each particular species. There are discounted rates for “youth” licenses. See their website for greater detail.
Section 1. DATES AND DEADLINES. Applications and fees must arrive at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Cheyenne, Wyoming by 5 P.M. on the application deadline to be valid regardless of the postmark date. If the deadline date is on a day when the Cheyenne Headquarters office is closed for normal business hours (weekends, holidays, and so forth), applications received by 5 P.M. on the next business day at the Cheyenne Headquarters office will be accepted as meeting the application deadline date. All applications received after that time and date will be rejected and returned to the applicant after the respective drawings have been conducted.
Applications received after the application period shall not be accepted. For example, the nonresident application period for DEER is January 1 through March 15; so an application must be received sometime during those dates.
